No floating tanks
Salut, je regret mais je ne parle pas assez de francais.
I am from Germany and I have recently bought a Zef. I am happy, that I have found this forum.
I am surprised, that there are no closed floating tanks with air. The boat is made only of two parts, the bottom and the cover with the seats etc. Is that normal?
Looking for ward to your replies

Réserves de flottabilité
Hello,
I think you bought a Zef model 3. Between the bottom and the cover, under the seats, there is the polystyrene foam which ensures the buoyancy. A Zef can not sink. I have a zef model 1. During the summer of 2014 my zef capsized with a thunderstorm. He did not sink and I could recover.

Re: No floating tanks
Hello Alain,
thanks for your answer.
I climbed in the front"cabin" and could have a look through the side of the boat to the seats. I am quite sure, that there is no foam. I could see only "air".
As I have read, normally the bottom of the front"cabin" is also a floating tank. Is that true?
Here you find a picture of my ZEF.
Regards
Holger

Re: No floating tanks
Hello Holger,
Your zef is like all other zefs. It can not sink. It is written in the documents that you can see in chapter documentation ( pub zef 02) "insubmersible" (unsinkable). I also know from experience. I do not know the explanation, I research it. On my zef 1 there are closed floating tanks with foam.
PS : your zef is very beautiful.
